1995
Tied up with Mountain Hawk (Pvt) Ltd; to carry out Money Transfers in December.
Launched our first location in Colombo -03.
2002
MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt.) Ltd was incorporated in February to take over the money transfer business of MHEL.
Reached the launch of the 20th location in September.
Commenced 365-day operations with a call center in Colombo – 03.
2006
In October, Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd formed a 50:50 joint venture with Aitken Spence PLC.
Aitken Spence PLC began managing MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd.
2007
In May, the 1000th location was added to the network (A Co-operative Rural Bank in Beliatta, in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka).
2008
The Brand name
was launched to give a unique identity to the entirety of our diverse network.
Up to Date
Currently we have an Island wide network of 2000+ locations which includes Banks, non-banking financial institutions, Cooperative Rural Banks, Pawning centers, Agency Post Officers and retail outlets with a dedicated sales team of 20 staff including Territory Managers, Regional Manager and Business Development Officers who assist to maintain a strong relationship with our agent partners as well as consumers.
